A little bit about the Friends of Bruce Castle Park
Having joined the Friends of Bruce Castle Museum as members in 2015, a couple of us wished to get more involved in supporting issues relating to Bruce Castle Park. The Friends of Bruce Castle is a long standing voluntary, community based group whose focus is to support Bruce Castle Museum and its park and we felt that a separate Friends' Group for the park would benefit local residents and could contribute positively to the maintenance and improvement of the park. We called the first "Friends of Bruce Castle Park meeting" on 13th March 2016; Groundworks, Bruce Castle Museum and the Friends of Bruce Castle supported us with the advertisement. Since then, we have been activily involved in the development of activities in the park. Our regular litter pick has become a meeting point to those who love our park and want to contribute.
We have established links with local councillors, council officers, the Safer Neighbourhood Team and other local community initiatives such as the Antwerp Arms.
We strongly believe that by working together, by embracing the diversity of local residents and by engaging with park users, we will keep Bruce Castle Park as the unique centre of our community for everybody to enjoy!
